In an era where many of the singers from the 60's, 70's, and 80's made their sound by racking their voices and are now croaking their way through nostalgia acts in Vegas, it's nice to hear Ann Wilson, who had a great set of pipes to start with and took care of them. Yeah, the song is overexposed and I expect to hear it on a linoleum commercial soon, but the audience seemed to like it... even the 3 geezers in the high buck seats. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swq_X9VQ744
I got long and stayed long inna 401 plan into the teeth of the silly ass manufactured "Kliff Krisis" and it worked out OK.... Thinkin' about bankin' it at some point.
So, about 3/4 of a lifetime ago, my wife said to me that the middle son, a personable, bright, intelligent, bookish, very likeable kid, would probably be better off for something physical he was accomplished at. The kid was small, slight, and put together like a stick figure made of popsicle sticks and scotch tape. Football and rugby were out. So, we bought him a bolt action, .22 rifle and I taught him to handle firearms and shoot. I'd taught his mother to shoot and handle firearms previously and it all worked out rather well. He learned how to be responsible in handling something that extended his personal power far beyond his stature and that he could feel confident about what he had and what he could do and it was actually a lot cooler to keep his mouth shut than running his mouth off. And a few years latter my wife was able to deal with pistol that the part time deputy sheriff left in the waiting room/kids play area of the medical facility she ran. So this Christmas, my son said to me, "Does the NRA realize that they are not helping? That they are like PETA with their totally out beyond where the buses run position?" I have to say that the thought of a pair of George Zimmerman armed to the teeth volunteers showing up at the opposite sides of the schoolyard at the same time makes my blood run cold...

Ya get to my age, you get used to losing the old timers. You become an old timer and you get used to losing your contemporaries; I went to my first High School reunion this year and I was surrounded by geezers, and not as many as there shoulda been. But when you lose one of the younger guys, it ain't expected and it stings. RIP Redbone.

Our activity as investors is not to try to identify tops and bottoms - it is to constantly align our exposure to risk in proportion to the return that we can expect from that risk, given prevailing evidence. -- John Hussman

So I'm boppin' home Thursday Afternoon and I blow by a semi flatbed w/ handful of stationary generators on it and the tractor is a plain white wit the FEMA emblem onnit. Four miles down the road in the same direction is the ex Moffet Naval Air Station, now NASA/quasi government/Airforce One, Orion P3, etc base.
Betcha the next day there were a bunch more generators on the East Coast and fewer on the West Coast. Whadda YOU think about throwing natural disaster responsibilities on to each individual state?

1980 to 2000 and 2000 to now. What I do with my 401 is situation dependent. This is an active management period for my self managed plan. When the time is right, I got no problem sitting still and getting rewarded big time for it... But now ain't that time. Now is more of a make hay while the sun shines cuz it ain't gonna last and don't be so stupid as to stand out inna rain and get wet, cuz ya can always lose what you've made being asleep at the switch... Pretty clear to me...

The BIS (Bank Of International Settlement)was formed in 1930 and acts as a central bank for the world’s monetary authorities. It said extraordinary measures have reduced incentives for politicians and other borrowers to repair balance sheets, and created the illusion that central banks can do much more to stoke growth and redress imbalances. Central bank policy “buys time” in the short term for banks and governments to tackle debt overhangs, the BIS said. European finance ministers meeting in Luxembourg last week battled over strategies to contain the debt crisis. Leaders are due to hold a summit on June 28-29, which will be their 19th since the turmoil erupted. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-06-2 ... -says.html http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-06-2 ... -says.html
I'm operating on the basis that the last part of the popping of the tech/real estate bubble is about to occur; the "You postponed it, but you can't escape it phase." Interest rates near zero and money donated to money center banks has bought some time. Now the problems haves to be fixed. Including the debt created in postponing the problems... I'm mostly concerned with the return OF capital, rather than the return ON capital. Watch this insanely aggressive ex motorcycle road racer get prudent.

How exactly these reforms will work, one can only speculate – as I do in the second half of my book, for about 200 pages. But I am no prophet, and predictions of this kind rarely work. Even the greatest books on political economy and history, all the way back to Marx or even Plato, analyse brilliantly what is going on but generally fail to predict what comes next. They see the forces shaping the future, but not the way it will turn out. http://m.thebrowser.com/interviews/anat ... capitalism
